Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Early Childhood Education (ICECE 2016)

Dear Participants,

Welcome to the 3rd International Conference on Early Childhood Education 2016. This year, the theme of our conference is Rethinking Theories and Practices of Early Childhood Education. The theme was chosen because we realise that nowadays, early childhood education is situated in a hybrid world, a world where the local meets the global, the East meets the West, and the traditional meets the modern. It is located in culturally diverse educational discourses that result in ongoing negotiation of different theories and practices of early childhood education. This conference is an attempt to provide a space for those various theories and practices to communicate between one another. It is expected that this conference will enrich our understanding of the complexity of early childhood education.

These two days conference is attended by more than 100 presenters and participants. The participants registered from various places in Indonesia as well as from oversea like Malaysia, India, and America. We would like to welcome all participants and wish you all a very good conference. We thank you all for joining this conference and sharing your valuable knowledge, skills, and experiences. We hope these all can contribute to the development of early childhood education as a body of knowledge and stimulate further research in the field.

We also would like to extend our highest appreciation to all the keynote speakers, Prof. Inga Werneson from West University, Sweden; Dr. Anette Hellman, from Gothenburg University, Sweden; Dr. Nancy Liem, from National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan; Dr. Marek Tesar, from The University of Auckland; and Dr. M. Solehudin from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Thank you for sharing all your expertise with us.

We are also pleased to inform you that this year, all selected papers will be published in Atlantis press which is indexed by Thomson Reuteurs ISI. Therefore, all selected papers undergo a peer-review process. It is our hope that this will eventually improve the quality of the papers while at the same time, enhancing the dissemination process so that it reaches wider readership. We are grateful with the constant support provided by the Atlantis Press to ensure high quality publication of this proceeding.
