Abstract

This research aimed to develop student collaboration skills which are one of the 21st century skills. The development of these skills is done by forming a discussion group to complete a project. The media used in this research is a closing statement of Dahlan Iskan's diary which was published on Dis'way. The selected material is related to the theme of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). The research data was in the form of quotations from closing sentences in each of Dahlan Iskan's diaries. Dahlan Iskan's diary can be used as a material for critical discourse studies. Therefore, the study also used Norman Fairclough's theory of critical discourse analysis. The use of the closing statement was assumed to be able to develop students’ collaboration skill. By using Fairclough's theory students can develop their respective competencies. Thus, by collaborating, it is hoped that students will gain several benefits, such as finding new ideas, practicing collaboration, learning to appreciate commitment, being able to share the workload according to their abilities, enriching experiences, and building networks. The analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. While the method used the listen and note method.
