Proceedings of the 5th International Symposium on Knowledge Acquisition and Modeling

The 2015 5th International Symposium on Knowledge Acquisition and Modeling (KAM 2015) will be held soon on June 27-28, 2015, London, UK. As with all previous 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, meetings, the objective of the 2015 5th KAM is to provide a forum where representatives from various related areas can meet, discuss and present the most recent advances knowledge acquisition and modeling.

Knowledge acquisition is the process used to define the rules and ontologies required for a knowledge-based system. The phrase was first used in conjunction with expert systems to describe the initial tasks associated with developing an expert system, namely finding and interviewing domain experts and capturing their knowledge via rules, objects, and frame-based ontologies. And knowledge modeling is a process of creating a computer interpretable model of knowledge or standard specifications about a kind of process and/or about a kind of facility or product. The topics involved in this conference proceedings include programming, structural control and command system, arithmetic and logical structure, digital logic, logic design, IC, computer systems organization, computer architecture, computer network, distributed computing, cyber security, computer system implementation, software, operating system, networking software, CAD Software, the computer program, computer simulation, database, simulation and modeling, digital signal processing, numerical methods, numerical analysis, factory automation, multimedia technology, HCI, digital signal processing, network transport protocol, network processor technology, matrix operations and other related ones.

We have received very active responses from the authors all over the world. We appreciate the papers they submit to KAM 2015 much. These submissions were sent to the members of the PC and additional experienced reviewers for strict peer-review. And at last, there are 81 excellent papers carefully selected from the submitted ones to be presented in the proceedings of KAM 2015. The reviewers of the manuscripts, those by tradition would remain anonymous, have been very helpful in efficiently reviewing the manuscripts, along with providing valuable comments well within the time allotted to them. The Editors express their sincere and grateful thanks to all the reviewers. The papers finally presented in the proceedings are divided into the following chapters:

Knowledge Engineering and Computer Science
Materials Science and Manufacturing Engineering
Informatics, Economics and Management Engineering

The four previous KAM conferences are all indexed by Web of Science CPCI-S (ISTP Indexing). And KAM 2015 will be published by Atlantis Press, and will be submitted for indexing to Thomson Reuters Web of Science CPCI-S (ISTP indexing).

Lastly, extend our many thanks to all the supporting and cooperation committees, to all the editors and authors, and to all who have served in this conference!

The Editor
