- Abstract
Batik from East Kalimantan has very good potential to be developed as a creative product according to the trends prevailing in the market today. However, interest from the youth is quite minimal; it is perceived as too traditional and does not fit with their style of life. This paper will set an initial strategy for sustainable batik brand development aimed at the youth market segment in East Kalimantan, utilizing the Business Model Canvas approach. This study conducts a review of literatures on various previous studies and cases of sustainable batik businesses. An initial BMC design that integrates nine elements of business with the Triple Bottom Line concept focusing on needs and preferences of young people is presented as a result. This study might serve as a starting point for strategies that can develop new batik brands that are competitive, attractive, and aligned with current times for youths within an up-to-date Creative Industry.
