- Abstract
The role of education in addressing the public from the abyss of poverty is absolutely vital. The role among other things when someone votes do not have enough education and these people come from families who could not afford, will have difficulty in finding decent jobs that improve the welfare of his family. When compared with someone who is the same family cannot afford but has enough education, it would be easier to find decent jobs that improve the welfare of his family. The study of the dynamic relationship between test education against poverty reduction by using cointegration test and VECM using Stata to analyze whether education affect poverty reduction or poverty reduction which transforms operationally education over the long term. This research uses education data time series and poverty data that exist in Indonesia and Malaysia. For the case in Indonesia, from the results of sports data obtained, cointegration test using the Johansen Test, obtained results that variables of education and poverty are not cointegration in the long term, which is shown by the trace statistic is less than the critical value of 5%. So in the long term the variables will not influence each other. For the case in Malayisa, sporting from the data obtained, Granger test using the Johansen Test, obtained the results that the education variable and poverty cointegration in the long term, which is shown by the trace statistic is greater than the critical value of 5%. So in the long term the variables will influence each other. For Indonesia, the results of statistical tests can be concluded that variables poverty affecting education. Education variables affect variables of poverty. So, there are two way causality i.e. from poverty to education. For Malaysia, the results of statistical tests can be inferred that the variable poverty do not affect variables education. Education variables affect variables of poverty. So, there is a causality one direction i.e. from education against poverty.
