- Abstract
Surrealism is an avant-garde art genre that emerged in the early 20th century, characterized by the creation of unrealistic and dreamlike images. This paper explores the application of surrealist aesthetics in the art design of the film Un Chien Andalou, directed by Spanish director Luis Buñuel in 1929. By analyzing the scene arrangement, prop selection, and scene elements in the film, it demonstrates how the director skillfully incorporates surrealist techniques into the visual effects of the film to create a weird and dreamy visual atmosphere. This paper aims to explain the application of surrealism in film art design and explore its impact on the audience’s visual experience.
