Abstract

This research aims to develop and validate a measurement model for cyberbullying among lower secondary school students under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office of Lampang and Lamphun. In an era where digital threats are rapidly proliferating, the study collected data from 366 students using a 31-item questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale, encompassing four key components of cyberbullying. Data analysis was conducted using confirmatory composite analysis with a disjoint two-stage approach.

The findings confirm that the developed cyberbullying measurement model aligns well with empirical data, both at the lower-order and higher-order construct levels. The model consists of four essential components: masquerade, exclusion, harassment, and outing, comprising twelve indicators in total. Notably, all four components carried equal weights, reflecting their equivalent importance in the Thai cultural context. Particularly significant was the exclusionary behavior indicator, which showed the highest weight, highlighting the distinctive characteristic of Thai society that places high value on group belonging. This measurement model represents a valuable tool for screening, monitoring, and developing preventive measures against cyberbullying that are appropriate for the Thai cultural context. It will help protect Thai youth from online threats, create a safe learning environment, and promote the complete mental and social development of Thai adolescents.
