Abstract

Addressing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this exploratory study delves into the implementation of online field practice, examining its influence on students’ perceptions of the teaching profession and their interest in becoming educators. The variables used in this study include online field practice and microteaching learning. Another variable used as an intervening variable is the perception of the teacher’s profession. The Likert scale questionnaire was used and obtained by as many as 182 educational students from 3 cities in Indonesia (Surakarta, Semarang, and Yogyakarta). The analysis technique used is Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed a significant influence between microteaching learning and the perception of the teaching profession on the interest of educating students to become teachers. In contrast, an insignificant influence was found on the program’s internship experience on the interest in becoming a teacher, both directly and indirectly. Blindfolding showed that the model in this study had excellent predictive relevance.
