The 6th International Conference on Current Issues in Education (ICCIE) 2023 is an event organized by the Graduate School, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Indonesia, which provides a platform for researchers and practitioners to share their ideas and experiences concerning issues in education. The conference was successfully held on November 10–11, 2023, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with offline and online presentations. The ICCIE conference was also an excellent opportunity to connect with global participants and enhance further collaborations. Building strong learning connections should be perceived as the highest priority in educational institutions. The connection paves the way for critical thinking, and it is a fundamental concept that connects both context and relevance. In this digital information age, technology has enormous potential to assist this whole process of connection.

The theme of the conference was ‘Transformation in the Digital Era: Strategy to Solve Problems in Education and Society’. This theme was raised due to the fact that in this Industrial Era 4.0, society encounters significant environmental, economic, and social challenges. Thus, educational institutions need to ensure that all students are well prepared for the future and that they can act as agents of change. As a result, educational institutions must expand their educational system extensively to address these challenges, including reshaping teaching and learning notions and platforms that immensely focus on not only developing a broad set of academic staff and student’s knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values but also upholding the fast-growing technology.

We would especially like to thank our keynote speaker, Dr. Rahmadi, M.Pd. (Director of Basic Education Teacher Development, Republic of Indonesia) and our invited speakers: (1) Prof. Dr. Phil. Habil, Ulf-Daniel Ehlers (Duale Hochschule Baden- Wurttemberg, Germany), (2) Dennis Alonzo, Ph.D. (School of Education, University of New SouthWales, Australia), and (3) Prof. Lim Cher Ping (The Education University of Hong Kong).
