Abstract
Modern society is a law-governed one based on credit. As the product of consensus among stakeholders, standards play an important role in social and economic activities. The article examines the way and mechanism that standards help building credit among stakeholders involved in social and economic activities, including as the basis of mutual trust for trade, the benchmark of conformity assessment, the support of legislation and the basis of justice and law enforcement. It has been wished that the study can facilitate the normative application of standards in social and economic activities, and improve the function of standards in social and economic activities as basis of credit.
