Abstract

The article deals with the strategy of spiritual and moral perfection of the economic person, what was formed in the framework of Protestantism. The Reformation, where Protestantism had appeared, brought to life the economic man and started the foundation of capitalist society. A description of the theological and economic works of Protestant thinkers is given here; they played a leading role in the destruction of medieval ideas about economics, in the development of the ethics of human economic activity, in the man’s fulfillment of his own professional mission, which was destined to him by God. Progress in the achievement of the strategy of spiritual and moral improvement of the economic person are reflected through criteria such as the volume of gross domestic product (GDP), labor productivity, ease of doing business, and human development index in highly developed countries of the world. The results of the study show that if the economic person acts on the basis of Protestant ethics, then he achieves the highest results. A vivid example is the United States, Britain, Germany and other countries where Protestantism occupies a leading position or has a significant influence. In the secular society we have the task of the renewal of the strategy of spiritual and moral improvement of the economic person in the changing circumstances.
