Abstract

The advancement of information and communication technology has shifted many human activities into the digital realm, raising new challenges in the protection of human rights particularly regarding privacy, freedom of expression, and access to information. Personal data, as part of individual rights, is often collected and processed without sufficient legal safeguards. This study examines how human rights are protected in cyberspace under Indonesian law, using a normative juridical method by analyzing statutory regulations, case studies, and international human rights instruments. The findings reveal that while Indonesia has enacted laws such as the Electronic Information and Transactions Law and the Personal Data Protection Law, these frameworks remain inadequate in practice, as evidenced by recent major data breaches. The paper concludes that legal protections must be strengthened through clearer enforcement mechanisms, victim-centered remedies, and greater public awareness to ensure the realization of digital rights in the current era.
