Abstract

The sports education model most effective way to increase independence by collaborating with team sports such as football, volleyball and basketball, but it is still rare to find people who use it in physical fitness material. This view will provide great benefits for students, especially regarding self-regulation. The main aim of this research is to see that physical education learning using the sport education model and conventional can improve students’ self-regulation. This experimental research used a randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study was SMP Negeri 3 Lembang, totaling 18 classes. The sample was chosen randomly and placed in classes 7C and 7D, each with 40 students. The instrument used is a self-regulated questionnaire. The research results showed that physical education learning using the Sport Education Model was proven to have a better influence on students’ self-regulation, while the conventional model did not have a significant influence on students’ self-regulation. So, it is recommended that in physical education learning teachers must master and use the sports education model so that students can achieve good self-regulation. In implementing this sports education model, it must be supported by adequate infrastructure so that students’ self-regulated development increases optimally.
