Abstract

As one of the leading nations in the Global South, Indonesia faces a complex set of challenges in its pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including economic inequality, environmental degradation, and geopolitical pressures. This paper analyzes Indonesia’s progress in achieving the SDGs, focusing on key areas such as poverty reduction, environmental sustainability, and regional cooperation. A qualitative analysis method is employed, drawing on case studies of government initiatives, international partnerships, and diplomatic efforts to assess how Indonesia has navigated its development agenda within the broader context of the Global South. Relevant concepts such as sustainable development, international diplomacy, and regional collaboration are explored, offering insight into the intersection of ESG frameworks, climate resilience, and post-pandemic recovery. The findings indicate that while Indonesia has made significant achievements in aligning its policies with SDG targets, ongoing challenges persist in balancing development with sustainability. The paper concludes that Indonesia’s approach offers valuable lessons for other nations in the Global South, particularly in the post-pandemic era, where international cooperation and policy innovation are crucial. Key recommendations include enhancing multilateral efforts and fostering regional partnerships to accelerate SDG achievement.
