- Abstract
Mazu culture is widely spread in China’s coastal areas, which is their traditional folk belief. Mazu culture originated in Song Dynasty, formed in Yuan Dynasty, flourished in Ming Dynasty, flourished in Qing Dynasty and flourished in modern times. Mazu culture embodies a special feature of Chinese marine culture. Mazu temple in Meizhou is the first Mazu temple in the world. Therefore, Mazu Culture on both sides of the Taiwan Strait originated from Meizhou Island in Fujian Province, and then came to Taiwan with immigrants and spread and developed in Taiwan. In this study, we mainly introduce Meizhou Island, the birthplace of Mazu culture, as well as the activities on the spread of Mazu culture held by both sides of the Strait.
