Abstract

The impact of translator’s technique used, and ideology would be undeniably significant to the translation product. Thus, this research focuses on the analysis of the translating process of technique and ideology translator used to transfer meaning in the target language in a political interview that is “Interview with Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto with Babita Sharma from BBC News July 11, 2014” Subtitle. The aim of the study is to identify and describe the technique and ideology translation in “interview with presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto with Babita Sharma from bbc news july 11, 2014 “subtitle. The researcher used simak catat method to collect the data and then did data display, data reduction and then data verification. The result shows there are six techniques; borrowing techniques, calque techniques, modulation techniques, adaptation techniques, reduction techniques, and addition techniques used. Translator’s ideology is more likely towards domestication. It can be seen from the number of adaptation techniques on the level of 15 speeches conducted by the translator compared with the technique of borrowing that is only applied to 7 speeches only.
