Abstract

This research examines the role of visionary leadership strategies in advancing the careers of lecturers at public universities through an expertise mapping-based framework. The study addresses the scarcity of systematic reviews that integrate career development with expertise mapping and professional experience. By employing the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method alongside PRISMA meta-analysis, the research scrutinized 14 scholarly articles from esteemed databases, including Scopus, Science Direct, and Wiley. Furthermore, systematic mapping analysis and data processing were utilized to meet the study’s objectives. The results demonstrate that effective leadership in human resource management is crucial for the career progression of lecturers. However, expertise mapping faces several obstacles, such as a limited pool of educators with qualifications aligned to their fields and inadequate implementation of policies related to expertise mapping within universities. Additionally, the digitization of expertise data is lacking, as shown by inconsistencies between practical applications and existing data. Therefore, establishing a comprehensive database of lecturer expertise is essential for informed career planning and development. This study highlights how visionary leadership fosters an inclusive environment that supports career advancement for lecturers, free from discrimination based on gender, employment status, or personal background. It also stresses the importance of leaders ensuring equal opportunities for all staff and using expertise mapping as a framework for developing more effective career strategies in higher education institutions.
