Abstract

For a child, the family is the first non-formal educational institution so that they can live, develop, and gain experience. Every family has its own experience in living its life. Trigger factors in social relations usually occur due to a lack of interaction between family members. Problems in the family are interpersonal behavior expressed by behavior that occurs in the family. Developing social and emotional attitudes is a child’s sensitivity to understanding other people’s feelings in interactions in everyday life. So children strived for the provision of a sensitive attitude towards the environment. This study aims to examine the impact of problems in the family on the development of social and emotional perspectives of elementary school students. The method used in this research is the literature review. Sources of data in this study come from international and national books and journals. The research results found, among other things, that the family has a significant role in fostering and developing children’s potential. However, when the family does not function properly, especially in families with economic problems and social relations in the family are not good, this will impact the children. There are several problems that children experience, such as losing self-confidence, being quiet, stubborn, withdrawing, and even opposing their parents. Thus, it can be said that family problems impact the development of students’ social and emotional attitudes.
