Abstract

Literacy competencies must be mastered by primary school teachers to help build the foundation of students’ literacy skills. However, many primary school teachers still have low literacy competencies. One of the efforts made to improve teachers’ literacy competence is through the teacher learning community on the Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM). This study aims to describe the application of primary school teachers’ literacy after participating in the learning community on the PMM. The research used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection using observation, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis is used by collecting, reducing, presenting, and concluding data. The research target is teachers who are members of the Komunitas Praktisi Merdeka Belajar (KPMB) as one of the learning communities on the PMM. The results show that teachers who are members of the KPMB implement literacy at school through various activities, including keeping a reading journal, making concept maps, implementing literacy across the curriculum, creating a text-rich physical environment, and early literacy assessment. This study concludes that there are changes in the literacy implementation of teachers in primary schools after participating in regular and structured learning community activities.
