Abstract

In the context of emerging engineering disciplines, this paper investigates the teaching reform of the electrical and electronics course based on the concept of outcome-based education (OBE) under the background of new engineering. With the growing demand for applied engineering talent in industrial automation and intelligent manufacturing, traditional teaching models are ineffective in improving students’ practical skills and comprehensive qualities. To address this, Huzhou College’s Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation major introduced the OBE concept. By using online teaching platform, to form a new model of teaching for the course, through project-based teaching, students are encouraged to play the role of “engineers” and improve their ability to solve practical engineering problems. Furthermore, the introduction of process-based assessments provides a more comprehensive assessment of students’ learning outcomes and overall qualities. two years after the reform was implemented, students’ practical skills and comprehensive qualities have significantly improved, their employment competitiveness has been enhanced, and their learning motivation has significantly increased. This paper summarizes the significant achievements of the OBE-based course reform in improving students’ comprehensive abilities and meeting the needs of modern industry and suggests that further optimization of teaching methods and assessment approaches is possible.
