Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Applied Linguistics (CONAPLIN 9)

The Ninth International Conference on Applied Linguistics (CONAPLIN 9) is an annual conference held by The Language Center of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, English Education Department of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, and the Indonesian Applied Linguistics Association. Since the commencement of the first event, CONAPLIN has provided an excellent forum for researchers, lecturers, school teachers, and post-graduate students to deliver and share their research and studies related to applied linguistics.

Held on 5-6 October 2016, CONAPLIN 9 takes “Language Varieties within a Multilingual Setting: Curricular and Instructional Appraisal” as its theme. There are 175 papers with 80 papers of them are selected for publication in conference proceedings with diverse topics related to English language teaching and learning, language assessment, washback on language testing, innovations and practices in English teaching in EFL/ESL context, and other topics related to applied linguistics. We would like extend our gratitude to reviewers for their time and efforts in reviewing the papers. We would also thank to advisory board members for providing their supports, and the organizing committee members, individuals who have strong commitment, diligence, hard work, and passion to organize this event.

Finally, this two-day conference has brought fruitful and productive sessions that let all participants expand the knowledge, build and broaden their networks and positively contribute to the field of applied linguistics. We expect that future conferences will stimulate more contributions to the field of applied linguistics and education.
