Modern research studies on computation began in the 1930s with the exploration of computability. Simultaneously, computers were being developed. In computer science, the harmony between theory and practice has been considered crucial. Researchers in the field should establish theories to address real-world issues. On the other hand, experimentation and simulation are seen as triggers for improving theories.

WCTP 2023 is the twelfth workshop organized by the Tokyo Institute of Technology, the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research—Osaka University, University of the Philippines—Diliman, De La Salle University—Manila, and Chitose Institute of Science and Technology. The workshop is dedicated to theoretical and practical approaches to computation. Its goal is to showcase the latest developments by computer science researchers in academia and industry who are working to address computational problems that can directly impact the way we live in society.

WCTP 2023 was held at Chitose Arcadia Plaza in Chitose-city, Japan, from December 4 to 6, 2023. This proceedings is a collection of papers presented at WCTP 2023. The program consisted of 25 selected research contributions, including the most recent visions and research, presented here in their final form.
