It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd World Conference on Gender Studies (WCGS 2021). This conference is the second conference ever organized in a collaboration between Universitas Malang and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Due to the Pandemic Covid 19, this year we organize this conference through virtual to embrace the new norms.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Universitas Malang for organizing and collaborating with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia through this conference to explore the possibility of sharing knowledge and experiences, which are contributed by experts and professionals from different corners of the world. Endeavours to find solutions to complex social challenges have increasingly required collaboration between universities.

The joint effort between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universitas Malang, Indonesia has so far proved to be fruitful in a variety of ways. These include the facilitation of a two-way flow of ideas as well as the development of a “platform” and “atmosphere” for innovative initiatives to be catalysed and nurtured. Multiple points of view, methods, and ways of thinking will be presented as a result, which will eventually encourage diversity of ideas. The ability to exchange ideas, acquire information, and gain new experience in a global context may make a significant contribution to academic and scientific advancement.

I am pleased to say that this advocacy –sustained by our insistence on excellence, on mutual academic benefit, and on wider societal impact will have a significant positive influence on society as a whole. I will continue advocating for closer collaboration between our two countries –and more specifically, between our two institutions.

In this year’s conference whose main theme was “Gender Equity and Social Inclusion for Social Resilience”. A major goal and feature of it is to bring academic and researchers together to exchange and share their experiences and research results about most aspects of social research, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted.

The conference consists of invited keynote speakers’ sessions, and parallel session and discussions with eminent speakers covering a wide range of topics related to gender studies and social research. We hope your experience with WGCS2021 is a fruitful and long lasting one. With your support and participation, the conference will continue its success for a long time.

We expect that every participant to make a presentation on social sciences issues surrounding each country as well as problems encountered by each country, which would provide clear differences in the participating countries’ awareness. We hope through this conference, the participants are able to understand the difference and promote mutual understanding. We would like to pay our deep respect to all the participants for your positive participation in the WCGS2021. We hope that through this conference will lead to the stability of the region in the future.

We would like to express our appreciation to all presenters and participants for taking time out of your busy duties to participate in this conference. We hope that the conference will be a stimulant for us to work hard and contribute to the betterment of our society in the future. May Allah give us guidance and reward us with good tidings.

Finally, I would like to thank the members of the program committees and reviewers. They have worked very hard in ensuring this conference organize successfully. We look forward to seeing all of you at the conference.
