Abstract

with constant reforms of English teaching, teaching mode focusing on learners- centeredness and highlighting learner autonomy has become a hot in foreign language teaching. Cultivation of learner autonomy is considered as one of the most important goals in language teaching. Based on the critical role strategies play in fostering learners' autonomy, the present paper offers a strategies-based instruction (SBI), that is, explicitly embedding learning strategies into normal teaching through strategy training to promote learners' autonomy. The findings show that strategy training can improve learners' strategy awareness and use frequency effectively. With strategies integrated into learning tasks, learners' autonomous learning ability can be greatly enhanced.
