Abstract

The occurrence of natural disasters, such as flash floods, can have profound implications for households, particularly in terms of the disruption to their economic activities and livelihoods. In the aftermath of these events, households may be faced with the challenge of rebuilding and recovering, which can significantly impact their labor supply and the allocation of household responsibilities. The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of household labor supply after the flash flood disaster in Agam Regency, an area that experienced this disaster on May 11, 2024. To examine the characteristics of household labor supply after the flash flood disaster, this study uses primary data with household respondents who were victims of the flash flood by selecting the t, hree sub-districts most affected by the disaster. The data were analyzed using a logistic regression model. The results of the study indicate that family variables such as the presence of a wife and children have a significant effect on the addition of labor, while the presence of parents actually reduces the opportunity. Other variables, including elderly status, employment status, and pre-disaster income, do not have a significant effect on the addition of labor supply (Added Worker Effect) in disaster-affected households.
