Abstract

Nowadays, it is an expectation for vocational students to be able to compete in the workplace after graduating from school. English proficiency is one of the crucial skills that must be improved. However, the tourism students have not maximized their potential in mastering English skills. Due to their lack of interest in studying English, students found it challenging to apply the language. They still lacked confidence and were afraid to practice their English, especially in the workplace. The teacher must be able to raise the awareness and confidence of the students in their ability to learn English. It’s crucial to use Quizizz as a learning tool, particularly when trying to create mindful, meaningful, and joyful English learning. The study aimed to examine how vocational students in the tourism department perceive Quizizz’s use in English language acquisition. A qualitative research method was conducted in this study. The subjects of the study were twenty eleventh-grade of the Tourism Department students in SMK Negeri 1 Medan. Based on students’ perception, it showed a positive perception in using Quizizz toward English proficiency, which promoted mindful, meaningful, and joyful English learning.
