Abstract

The solar wind has a strong influence primarily on the outer shells of the Earth (the magnetosphere and the ionosphere). As a result, it affects the potential difference between the ionosphere and the Earth's surface as well. The paper presents the results of the performed analysis of the relationships between the daily variation of the solar wind characteristics (solar wind velocity values, ion concentrations) and the electric field intensity of the atmospheric surface layer. The diurnal variations of the electric field in the surface layer of the atmosphere are caused by both global and local factors. Their contribution to diurnal and seasonal variations in the electric field of the atmosphere has not been studied enough. Long-term ground-based observations of variations in the parameters of atmospheric electricity are an important experimental basis for modern research. Monitoring in the highland areas is characterized by the fact that there is almost no anthropogenic component in the formation of the electric field.
