Abstract

There is no direct equivalent to the Russian conjunction in the Bulgarian language. The given conjunction has an ambiguous syntactic status and a variety of meanings. Its most important function is that it is used in so-called alternative motivation sentences. In the Bulgarian language we observe one of the main conjunctions of reason in the same syntactic structures. The paper addresses the reasons why, despite the close meaning of and , this pair of equivalents is not always used in the translations. We will describe the conditions when there can be other translation equivalents.
