Website: http://www.icucme.org With the acceleration of global urbanization, challenges and opportunities co-exist in the field of urban construction and management engineering. In order to promote aca- demic exchanges, technological innovation and achievement sharing in this field, the 2024 5th International Conference on Urban Construction and Management Engineering (ICUCME 2024) was held during July 19th to 21st, 2024 in Xi’an, China. The ICUCME conference is created to be an international academic conference for scientists and researchers from the fields related to urban construction and management engineering in China and the outside world, and has been held as an annual academic event since 2020. Since its preparation, ICUCME 2024 has received extensive attention and active participation from domestic and international academic circles. Bearing in mind the principle of academic exchange first, ICUCME 2024 aims at promoting the innovative development in urban construction and management engineering through academic exchanges, achievement demonstration and cooperation negotiation. The conference covers a wide range of theoretical and applied topics related to urban construction and management engineering, including but not limited to: Architectural Design and Urban Planning, Urban Sustainability and the Urban Environment, Water System Planning andWater Ecological Restoration, Urban Resource and Environmental Management, Urban Public Service Supply and Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, etc. Attracting about 100 delegates worldwide, the conference was mainly divided into keynote speeches, oral reports, poster presentations and academic discussions. Schol- ars had time at their disposal to present their work and researches, with 30–40 min for keynote speech including time for discussion, and about 15 min for oral presentation. During the keynote speech session, Professor Baojie He (Chongqing University, China) talked about the plan and design of building a heat-resilient urban; Professor Zakiah Ahmad (Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia) shared the experience and recent devel- opment of Mass Timber Structures in Malaysia and looked into its future; Professor Yu Liu (Northwestern Polytechnical University, China) assessed the potential value of solar radiation resources in urban residential areas; Associate Professor Bin Hu (Bei- jing University of Technology, China) conducted a research on composite utilization of underground space of public green space in Beijing old town. The participants actively responded to the presentations by raising questions and puzzle and interacted with each other during discussion time. Once again, we must admit that organizing ICUCME 2024 and finalizing the editing process for the post publications has been quite a challenge.We haveworked with passion and enthusiasm.We firmly believe that the discussions, interactions and publications of this Proceedings can help improve researches and experiments in related fields, offering creative ideas that can be used by researchers to conduct experiments, as well as creating important link between theory and practice. We would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of ICUCME 2024, including the conference committee members, speakers, authors, reviewers and all the participants.
