Abstract

In this study, two flushing modes including surfactant solution flushing and surfactant-stabilized foam flushing were conducted for in-situ soil remediation to remove DDT contaminants. The results showed that surfactant-stabilized foam flushing could significantly enhance the overall sweep efficiency, and then improved the DDT contaminants removal efficiency in heterogeneous soil. Compared with solution flushing, foam flushing was more suitable for remediate heterogeneous soil due to its intrinsic permeability characteristics. The obtained results would provide useful information and technical support for DDT soil remediation.
