- Abstract
This study aimed to find out the public’s response to teacher figures in Indonesia, especially the personality competencies of Mathematics teachers during the transformation of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is quantitative descriptive research with a survey method. The results of this study describe the level of community response to the personality competencies of Mathematics teachers from January 2020 to December 2022. The analysis was carried out based on data sources obtained through social media Twitter with the keyword “Mathematics Teacher”. Twitter was chosen because it is one of the most popular social media and can provide information about public perceptions and discourse about teachers. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that the community’s response to the figure of a Mathematics teacher was a positive view of 43%, a negative view of 45.2%, and an ambiguous view of 11.8%. Positive opinions on the figure of Mathematics teachers that stand out include being smart, kind, and having technological skills. Meanwhile, the negative opinions on the figure of a Mathematics teacher that stands out include those who like to give lots of assignments; the teacher is boring and grumpy. Overall, technology is a factor in developing teachers’ professional identity and, simultaneously, the community’s emotional greeting towards teachers, which spurs teachers to improve.
