Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the community’s economy, especially on economically vulnerable families. PT United Tractors Tbk responded by launching the Berdaya Bersama Social Entrepreneurship Class, a CSR initiative aimed at empowering POSYANDU/POSBINDU cadre mothers through social entrepreneurship training to increase their economic independence and social capacity. This research uses a mixed method approach with a case study method to evaluate the effectiveness of the program in building participants’ social entrepreneurship skills and its impact on their business and social networks. Based on Pierre Bourdieu’s social capital theory, the program leverages trust, social networks and collective norms to strengthen social capital among participants, which can eventually be converted into economic capital through sustainable micro-enterprises. The results showed that the program succeeded in improving participants’ knowledge and skills, as evidenced by the increase in pretest and posttest scores in some classes. The analysis also showed that the program strengthened the participants’ social capital by creating a network that supports collaboration and economic empowerment in their community. The program contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets, including poverty reduction, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, and sustainable development.
