Proceedings of the International Conference of Mechanical Engineering (ICOME-2022)

Conference name: Proceedings of the International Conference of Mechanical Engineering (ICOME-2022)
Date: 18-20 May 2022
Location: Craiova, Romania (Hybrid)
Website: http://icome.ro/index.php/icome/2022

The International Conference on Mechanical Engineering, ICOME 2022, was the 6th edition of the conference in actually form, being a traditional conference organized by the Faculty of Mechanics,University of Craiova, since 2010 and a continuation of the old IngMec Conference organized also by the Faculty of Mechanics (first edition in 1996).

The 2022 edition of ICOME was an anniversary one, with the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the University of Craiova. Also, higher education in the field of mechanics has a 75-year tradition in Craiova (since 1948), and our faculty has organized various scientific events (congresses, conferences, symposia, round tables, etc.) with dedicated themes over the time in:

– Applied Mechanics;
– Mechanisms;
– Machine Parts;
– Materials;
– Technology;
– Civil Constructions;
– Automotive;
– Transportation;
– Engineering and Environment;
– Robotics, etc.

The Faculty of Mechanics continues to organize other international scientific events on dedicated themes together with other universities and professional entities, but through its own conferences, ICOME provides an academic platform where the teachers and researchers teams from our entity, as well as collaborators from national and international institutions, present results of research activities dedicated to knowledge transfer, respectively, technological transfer.

The conference has held on Craiova, Romania, between May 18 and May 20, 2022, in both physical and online modes.

The aim of the conference is to provide opportunities for the participants to:

• Gain insight into the cutting-edge technologies and ideas for future developments;
• Update their skills and knowledge by attending focused technical sessions;
• Network with potential new partners, clients and suppliers;
• View the latest technology products and services in the technical exhibition.

The conference aims to bring together scientists, engineers, manufacturers and users from all over the world to discuss common theoretical and practical problems, describe scientific applications and explore avenues for the future researches in the area of Mechanical Engineering.

The congress sections are:
1. Applied Mechanics, Modeling and Simulation in Mechanical Engineering

• Simulation and testing in mechanical engineering
• Manufacturing trends
• Structural mechanics and modeling in mechanical engineering
• Overall stability assessment of mechanical systems

2. Automotive, Transportation and Traffic

• Automotive manufacturing and maintenance design
• Intelligent transport systems
• Hybrid and electric vehicles
• Advanced traffic management systems

3. Production Systems, Management and Materials

• Modern manufacturing technologies
• Quality, reliability and maintenance
• Virtual reality in the mechanical engineering industry
• Mechanical behavior of materials

4. Civil Engineering

• New technologies, methods and techniques in civil engineering
• Green building materials and technology
• Advances in civil engineering
• New technologies in structural design and construction.

Applied mechanics, modeling and simulation in mechanical engineering; automotive, transportation and traffic; production systems, management and materials; and ultimately civil engineering are all topics covered in the volume’s papers. The articles chosen for this edition were written by professionals from academia, industry and research coming from many nations and fields of study. The presentations’ main goals are to address the major issues that industrial engineering is currently dealing with and to offer potential solutions to issues that are connected to industry, such as those within the automotive, transportation and environmental sectors, road safety, civil engineering and production systems.

The University of Craiova’s Faculty of Mechanics is in charge of organizing the congress. The goal is to bring together individuals from academia, business and government to discuss their areas of interest for future research and investigation cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering. Only a small portion of the congress’s results will be contained in the proceedings volume.

Researchers from academic institutions and research centers, professionals from industry, PhD students and students enrolled in Industrial Engineering programs will all benefit from the findings presented in the proceedings volume.
