Abstract

POSS with cage-like hybrid molecules composed of silicon and oxygen has raised great interests of materials researchers owing to its excellent mechanical and thermal properties, such as tensile strength, tensile modulus and glass transition temperature Tg. And it has been widely used in electronics, automotives and multiple applications. The four basic manufacturing advances on POSS reinforced resin matrix composites were revealed in this paper and the corresponding conclusions were given. The advances concluded that POSS as reinforced phase could to some extent improve the mechanical and thermal properties of nanocomposites.
