Abstract

As the information era is coming, more and more sensitive information will be encrypted into databases for secure accessing. This paper focuses on encrypting String data in databases and provides a method to build index for sensitive attributes. The index is composed of partition value, characteristic value and character information value. So the index can be used to filter most of unmatched records, and reduce the number of records need decode. Two-phase query is used in the proposed method. The first phase executes query on the index to filter most unneeded records; the second phase decodes the result set and executes exact query on it.
