Abstract

Reading is an essential part in English learning, and many schools in China are implementing test-oriented reading, which deprives students of the freedom to choose materials and enjoy the reading process. Therefore, this research analyses students in primary school, middle school and high school in China about their learning characteristics and provide alternative ways for teachers to teach reading by adapting sustained silent reading into their classrooms.
