Abstract

This paper gives an overview of the development of comparative linguistics and Indo-European language family, and analyzes some cognates in Indo-European language family from the aspects of meaning, pronunciation and inflectional form based on comparative linguistics. It is expected to have a deeper understanding of the overall structure of Indo-European languages, and to better explore the development and basis of Indo-European languages.
