Abstract

The purpose of this study w is to describe the ability to use the word in a sentence by six grade students of Hutanopan 0501 Negeri Padang Lawas District Lubuk learning Barumun year 2016-2017. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. This research was carried out in 0501 Public Elementary School HutanopanLubukBarumun Old Padang Regency. The number of population is 25 students and the sample uses total sampling. Data collection techniques are in the form of essaytests. The results showed that students VI Elementary School 0501 Hutanopan Lubuk Barumun Padang Lawas District 2016-2017 instructional year have sufficient ability in using the word with value - average 64.76 and the standard deviation of 5.78 is at a very good level, there are 9 students (36%) get a score of 80-100, there are 2 good students (8%) get a score between 80-70, there is only 1 student ( 4%) get a value between 70-60, there are 6 students (24%) get a score between 60-40, very less there are 7 students (28%) get a score between 40-10.
