- Abstract
College English teaching should pay more attention to the cultivation of English communicative competence on the basis of improving students’ listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating. Improving the current situation in college oral English teaching and adapting to the needs of the College English Curriculum Requirements, Cooperative Learning as a breakthrough in traditional oral English teaching attracts more and more scholars and educators. Cooperative Learning is a student-centered instructional approach that has the potential to encourage more interactions among students, and to maximize the improvement of each student’s learning process. This paper aims at analyzing the problems in current college oral English teaching, and explaining Cooperative Learning, especially Group Investigation as an effective method in college oral English teaching.
