- Abstract
As an important part of human capital, talents play a key role in promoting economic growth. Universities are shouldering the huge mission of exporting outstanding talents for the country, therefore, it is of great significance to study the impact of talent output at all levels of universities on regional economy and three major industries. This paper uses the panel data of 30 provinces in Chinese Mainland from 2003 to 2016 to conduct empirical research and finds that the talent output of universities can significantly promote regional economic growth and industrial transformation upgrading; Moreover, graduates with doctor, master, undergraduate, and specialist degrees all present positive impact on regional economy, among them, doctoral, master's and undergraduate graduates also play a significant role in promoting industrial upgrading.
