Proceedings of the 1st International Conference on Geography and Education (ICGE 2016)
The 1st International Conference on Geography and Education (ICGE) was held on 29 October 2016 by the Department of Geography, Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. The conference theme is strengthening synergy of geography for the future of the world. The essence of this theme is about the future of the world and the roles of geography to participate for better future.
The conference was attended by six keynotes speakers from America, Thailand, Germany, and Indonesia and a broad range of scientists, lecturers, teachers, and students from the diverse countries and regions. There were five topics on the conference, Physical Geography, Human Geography, Remote Sensing and GIS, Disaster Risk Management, and Geography Education.
The paper presenters to the conference and organizers received 108 papers. By recommendation of conference organizers and after the double blind review process, the submitted papers were selected on the basis of originality, significance, and clarity for the purpose of the conference; finally 74 papers are accepted and published in the present proceedings and the authors have been invited to present their papers on the conference.
On behalf of the committee, I would like to express my gratitude to the Indonesian Geographer Society (IGI), the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) and also the Family Planning Coordination Board (BKKBN - East Java) that contributed to the success of this conference. Hopefully, this conference can bring a great contribution to strengthen synergy for the future better world. Finally, as the chairman, I hope we will meet on the 2nd ICGE conference.
