Work life balance in the Digital Era: Is it Associated with work load and Pressure from digitalisation? A descriptive study

Abstract

Researchers are always debating the relevance of work and life balance. Multiple researches have been conducted on to measure work and life balance in context of the employer and employee, with a focus on the employee and their work-related issues. The literature highlights the effects of digitalization on current development. The literature review presents a number of studies that academics have done on work-life balance from the perspective of both employers and employees. In the era of digitalization, where work is ubiquitous and connectivity is omnipresent, striking a healthy work-life balance has never been easier. Data were collected from 300 respondents in order to conduct the study. The data was examined using SPSS version 16.0 and the one sample t-test and correlation. It was discovered that the heavy workload and extended work hours are posing a challenge to maintaining personal and professional life of employee. They are quitting their jobs, experiencing stress and sadness as a result.
