Abstract

Louisa May Alcott was an American famous female writer who wrote “Little Women” at the age of 35 under the request of the publisher to write "a book for girls ". The novel is actually an autobiography based on Louisa and her sisters’ adulthood in the context of the American Civil War. This article explores the principles about family education embodied in this novel, including eliminating traditional sermons, building a good atmosphere in family, setting good examples, cultivating children’s personality, and guiding the children to establish correct values. The study is conducted to provide some inspiration for modern families’ education in order to set a precious pattern for parents nowadays to use for reference.
