- Abstract
EFL learners in the same context might have different outcomes in their English behaviors. The reasons might be quite complex but one important reason is that different learners have different levels of Language Awareness (LA), and higher level of language awareness contributes to more learning. The current study takes the theoretical framework of self-determination theory and designs engagement activities to raise LA of EFL learners. The study reveals that in student-centered classroom, with enhanced activities that require more engagement, students assume more responsibility in their learning and construct more understanding of language, hence their language awareness could be raised.
