Abstract

In the evolving landscape of education, the transformation of mathematics instruction is imperative to equip students with critical thinking skills and real-world relevance. This paradigm shift emphasizes inquiry-based learning, real-world applications, and innovative assessment strategies. It also highlights the importance of teacher professional development in fostering these changes. This article explores the pedagogical shifts required to nurture critical thinking, the role of real-world applications in making mathematics relevant, and innovative assessment strategies that go beyond correctness to assess the depth of students' mathematical thinking. Furthermore, it emphasizes the role of educators in this transformative journey, as they play a pivotal role in inspiring curiosity, guiding exploration, and providing constructive feedback.
