- Abstract
Globalization has brought tremendous progress to human civilization. The development of technology and information affects all aspects including the field of education. This fact is further supported by the Fourth Industrial Revolution which impacts the complexity of human life. With digital culture, technology may provide opportunities and new possibilities. A person can be smart in an instant, even without having to go to school for years. Knowledge becomes very wide open for anyone, as various facilities are available for those who seek them. Moreover, the advancement of digital technology makes it possible for people to connect with anything as if there are no boundaries. Technology can unite people in the universe regardless of cultural boundaries. On the other hand, there is a concern that advanced technology in turn can bring a nation into the digital disruption era. The young generation lives in the globalization of consciousness that is increasingly widespread and is in a cross-culture. The cross-culture continues to move in their respective super cultures which tend to develop towards individualism and apathy. To respond to this, what might be done is to build the community character and improve cultural resilience in order to develop nationalism. Future education should focus on humanities, for example, art education to build character in order to identify students’ own needs as well as improve critical thinking and sensitivity.
