- Abstract
This paper compares two unique interpretations of César Franck’s Violin Sonata in A major by violinists Daniel Rowland and Kirill Troussov. The Franck Sonata requires expressive depth and technical challenges. Rowland’s casual and communicative style contrasts with Troussov’s formal and conservative approach to the music. Through the analysis of phrasing, bowing, and dynamics, this study explores how their distinct gestures and performance styles influence their reading of the piece, demonstrating the diversity in contemporary classical music interpretation.
