Proceedings of the Conference on Global Research on Sustainable Transport (GROST 2017)

The 1st Global Research on Sustainable Transport was held on 22nd – 23rd November 2017 at the Hall of Trisakti Institute of Transportation Management. The theme of GRoST 2017 paper conference focused on a range of topics related to research in Transportation, Sustainable Information and Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business and Sustainable Tourism.

Sustainable Transport is sometimes known as Green Transport. It also means that any form of transport that does not use or rely on dwindling natural resources. Instead, it relies on renewable or regenerated energy rather than fossil fuels that have a finite life expectancy. For this reason, Green Transport has a low or negative effect on the environment since it makes use of energy sources that are sustainable. Transport is very important because transportation facilitates trading, exchange and tourism. Without effective transport, most areas will be isolated. Transportation usually has problems related to urban areas and occurs when the transport system is unable to meet the various requirements of urban mobility.  Choices on public transit options are choices about city future. Will there be high levels of air pollution? Will services be affordable for all? The type of public transit system will have a big impact on the answer to these questions. Tourism sector is one of the main important sectors of the economy. Many countries take advantage of covering the budget deficit with the help of profits coming from tourism. That is the reason why tourism sometimes is called “a factory without chimney”. As the matter of fact, it is difficult to think of tourism sector without transportation. Transportation is the main tools to carry passengers, the tourists, to the actual site where tourism services are performed. Supply Chain Management (SCM), management of the flow of goods and services, involves the movement and storage of raw materials, of work-in-process inventory, and of finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption. Supply Chain Strategies are the critical backbone to Business Organizations today. Simply stated, when a product is introduced to the market and advertised, the entire market in the country and all the sales counters need to have the product where the customer can buy and take delivery. In line with the explanation above, Trisakti Institute of Transportation Management is committed to provide a forum for relevant researches and innovations that contribute to competitiveness, efficiency, convenience, safety and well-being.

There were 100 papers from various topics related to research in Transportation, Sustainable Information and Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business and Tourism. Those papers were selected through a strict peer-review process, and 80 papers are published in the conference proceedings.
