- Abstract
Evaluating each member's collaboration ability in an R\&D team is of vital importance for senior managers to improve the team performance for R&D activities. Due to the difference in knowledge and education background, each team member usually tends to use multi-granular hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets to elicit their assessments over team members who have working relationship with him/her with respect to each criterion. In this paper, a multi-granular hesitant fuzzy linguistic approach is developed to evaluate the collaboration ability of R&D team members. In the proposed approach, all the individual multi-granular hesitant fuzzy linguistic assessments provided by each team member with respect to each criterion are first transformed into their fuzzy envelopes and then aggregated to obtain the overall assessment of each team member's collaboration ability, which are in the form of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. By ranking the trapezoidal fuzzy numbers, the collaboration ability of team members can be ranked. The evaluation values are also transformed into multi-granular hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets to provide interpretable results about each team member's collaboration ability. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the proposed approach.
