Proceedings of the 11th Conference of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT 2019)

We warmly welcome you at this exceptional conference. Recall that international conferences organized by the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology are one of its most important activities. The first EUSFLAT conference took place in Palma de Mallorca in Spain in 1999. Since then, this conference has been organized every two years in one of the European towns. Namely, the second EUSFLAT 2001 took place in Leicester, United Kingdom and then in Zittau, Germany, Barcelona and Gijon in Spain, Lisbon in Portugal, Aix-Les-Bains in France, Milano in Italy and Warsaw in Poland.

This EUSFLAT is organized in the Czech Republic for the second time; the first was EUSFLAT 2007 in Ostrava. It is notable that in both cases, the main organizer is the Institute for Research and Applications of Fuzzy Modeling of the University of Ostrava (IRAFM) that is one of few workplaces where the theory of fuzzy modeling has been developed. Our institute stands behind such successful methods as Fuzzy Transform, Perception-based Logical Deduction (PbLD), or contributions to special theories of mathematical fuzzy logic, fuzzy quantifiers, fuzzy relations, and many others. Besides that, we also successfully realized several real applications of our methods.

The co-organizer of EUSFLAT 2019 is Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of the Czech Technical University in Prague (CIIRC). Its specialization includes automatic control and optimization, robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and machine learning, designing software systems and computer devices with the focus on decision support and diagnostic systems, applications in medicine, distributed decision support systems, industrial diagnostics, telematics, smart cities, and others.

During the years and thanks to the successful development of fuzzy logic and the corresponding technology, the originally European conference became famous all over the world and, therefore, still more and more scientists from outside Europe participate in it. This year, we are hosting participants from 40 countries. Among them are 22 European countries, while outside Europe, we have participants from North as well as South America (USA, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Guatemala and also Cuba), Asia (Japan, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkey) and Africa (Algeria, South Africa, Tunisia).

It should be noted that the current proceedings include 114 full papers accepted from 176 submitted ones. The total number of submissions, including abstracts, is 218. This astonishing interest demonstrates that the importance of fuzzy logic and technology based on it is not negligible. We are delighted by this fact and believe that in the cooperation of IRAFM and CIIRC we will experience an excellent and unforgettable conference. We wish you to enjoy it, to bring home many new fruitful ideas for your research, and also to enjoy the beautiful town, Prague.
